Cover ex the Bianchi correspondence from VENICE to SCUTARI (Albania) endorse "via Trieste col Vapore Austriaco d'Antivari" franked on despatch by Italy 1863/65 60c. pale mauve tied by 196 dotted numeral obliterator with VENEZIA cds. at left (April 19). Reverse with Triest transit and front with SCUTARI D'ALBANIE thimble datestamp of Austrian P.O. (25/4) in blue (Coles & Walker fig. 6). Charged with Turkey 1868 Postage Due 20pa. red-brown (2) on arrival tied by all arabic SCUTARI circular handstamps in blue (Coles & Walker fig 3). A very scarce and attractive cover. Signed A. Diena.

Reverse with Basel transit and Chêne arrival cds (22/9). A fine and very rare entire. Signed Ferchenbauer.

✉ AUSTRIA. Sc. 34, 36, 37. 1883 (May 21). The outstanding and famous combination 3 kr. green postal envelope plus 1874/80, fine beard, 2 kr. yellow, 5 kr. red and 10 kr. blue, all cancelled Prag, 21 May 1883 to YOKOHAMA, Japan, arriving 7 July. The letter was re-addressed via San Francisco and New York to Vienna and 2 Japanese 1883 5 sen blue were added to pay the postage and cancelled in black with the cds. Of Yokohama 2 July 1663 above, arriving in Vienna 27 August, it was again re-addressed and posted from Hernals via Karolinenthal 29 August to PRAG, were it was eventually delivered to the addresse on the same day. Stamps tied by TRIEST cds., and reverse bears Napoli transit and red SINGAPORE/PAID datestamp. A very fine and scarce pre-UPU franking to a most uncommon destination.

Entire letter bearing 1864 perf. 9 1/2 2 sol. yellow (2), 3 sol. green (2), 5 sol. rose (defective top right corner) and 10 sol. blue (2), one with perforations cut out and detached from another letter previously, tied by CONSTANTINOPLE cds.
