Red circular PD erased by London "50" obliterator in black and straight line INSUFFICIENTLY/PREPAID in black alongside. Transit of GIBRALTAR with cds on front (Jan 18) and eventual arrival on reverse with JEREZ arrival cds (Feb 10) and charged "4R" to pay in red. A rare and most unusual usage, the three week gap between Gibraltar and Jerez is difficult to explain.

Cover from ELMINA to PHILADELPHIA (USA) sent 'Book Post' on a re-used 'Paquebot' envelope from ACCRA to ELMINA previously franked by 1884/89 3d. olive yellow tied in black (with manuscript 'Not including postage' alongside) and ELMINA cds (June 10). Re-mailed to USA with 1884/91 ½d. green (4) all tied by ELMINA cds's in blue (Aug 13).

REC'D JUN 12 1903 cds. and SEATTLE arrival cds. Some stains with edge wear. A very RARE HONOLULU cancel on Hong Kong stamps.

Entire letter sent registered from DARJEELING to CALCUTTA, franked on front by 1854 1a. red (2 examples) and reverse with perforated 1856 4a. black tied by 'B/68' obliterators in black; with manuscript 'Weight ¾ tola, Stamped 2 annas'. A fine mixed issue franking cover that opens well for Exhibit display.

DEFICIENT POSTAGE - 9 / OZ. FINE - 9 in black. Reverse with Bombay cds (Aug 9) and Hastings cds (Sept 10). Charged 1/6d. due in manuscript. A scarce and attractive cover.

✉ INDIA. 1878 (Aug 27). Cover used from PARIS, bearing, instead of a blue 25 centime adhesive an India ½a. blue, apparently accepted as payment and tied by PARIS / BOULEVARD GERMAIN cds with repeated strike alongside. Transits and arrivals on reverse of a most unusual cover.

Sg. 5. 1892 (Aug 31). 2d. registration envelope, 198 x 126 mm., mailed from CONSTANTINOPLE to GOTTINGEN (Germany) with imperforate EXPRES-D'ORIENT label in salmon shade, used with three 1890 80pa. on 5d. dull purple & blue all tied by oval 'R' handstamps in black. BRITISH POST OFFICE / CONSTANTINOPLE at base in black and reverse with arrival on reverse (Sept 3). A GREAT RARITY - the sole recorded usage thus. UNIQUE.

✉ MALTA. Sg. 23, 26. 1886. Entire letter to ROME franked by 1885 2d. grey and 2½d. ultramarine (2) tied by A25 obliterators in black with oval REGISTERED / MALTA in red alongside (Oct 11). Large 'R' in black and reverse with Rome arrival cds (14/10). Stamps off edge of cover at top but a scarce usage.
