DENIS in blue with civilian circular datestamp alongside of the same day. Reverse with oval LE COMMANDANT D´ARTILLERIE, P. VOIGNARD cachet and four French datestamp of arrival (March 17). A rare and appealing cover. Certificate ROUMET (2012).

F. No.1 with repeated strike alongside. Reverse with Officer´s signature and manuscript ´Correspondence Militaire´ and arrival cds (July 6). A rare entire with interesting contents.

Cover, probably mailed by serving Soldier in SENEGAL to GRAULHET (France) bearing soldier´s concessionary rate franking of 1871-75 ceres 25c. blue tied on landing with MARSEILLE cds (May 8) with superb framed CORR. / DES ARMEES handstamp in red. Reverse with Marseille and Graulhet cds´s. A scarce cover.

Manuscript AFFRANCHISEMENT INSUFFISANT at top (apparently ignored) and fine octagonal LIGNE J-PAQ. FR. No. 2 datestamp in blue (June 23) below. Charge box on reverse with five red wax seals.

✉ SENEGAL. 1908. Postal card franked with 10 c. Dubois issue (uncancelled) prepaying the UPU card rate to HOLLAND. Front shows RUFISQUE/SENEGAL departure cds, French LIGNE J/PAQ.FR.No. 3 paquebot datestamp, plus KAMPEN arrival cds. A scarce usage of this card to an uncommon destination.

Unstamped envelope from Papeete cancelled by PAPEETE TAITI 31 DEC 95 double ring addressed to Tipaerui with TAX handstamp and French General Colonies postage dues 5 c blue (Yvert 18) and 15 c pale green (Yvert 20) applied and tied on arrival by PAPEETE TAITI datestamp. Fine and rare item of postage due mail.

Black COOK ISLANDS-RAROTONGA arrival cds at left (Sept 16) and reverse with Papeete transit (Sept 1) cds. Adhesive creased but a rare cover. Ceres 8.

✉ TUNEZ. 1864 (Feb 21). Entire letter from Tunis with double ring French P.O. despatch cds in black, sent unpaid via Marseille to London (Feb 29) with fine strike of ´FR/1F 78c´ Exchange marking in black. Charged 6d. due in manuscript. Very rare.

✉ TUNEZ. Ce. 30. 1872 (Nov. 12). Cover to TUNIS, readdressed on arrival, franked by Laureated 1863-67 30c. brown pair tied by scarce ´34´ Paris Star (Avenue Josephine) with red PD. Reverse with seven further datestamps including BÔNE (Nov. 16 and 20) and very fine (and rare) LA GOULETTE cds (Nov 17), then returned to Paris (Nov. 25). A most unusual cover.

✉ WALIS Y FUTUNA. 1935. Cover to PARIS bearing 1920 pair of 35 c. overprinted black & yellow with 1926 1 fr. 25 c. on 1 fr. blue tied Protector at FRANCAIS-WALLIS cds´s. PARIS arrival on reverse of scarce cover. SG 10, 38.

✉ GRAN BRETAÑA. 1777 (March 15). CHANNEL ISLANDS. Entire letter from GUERNSEY (a private family letter from Martha Le Mesurier to her cousin in COGNAC), struck with fine S. MALO handstamp on entry in black.

✉ GRAN BRETAÑA. 1837. Dickinson´ Letter Sheet (1d. For 1 Ounce), design in yellow-buff on wove paper with silk threads, with ´London District Post´ within woven design on reverse and ´Not To Exceed One Ounce´ at left and right, space left for address in centre. Slight fault on front panel but very rare: it was the adoption of John Dickinson´s scheme that was to lead to Penny Postage in 1840. A seldom seen item.
