Ceres 1871-75 25 c. blue pair (rare usage in Guadeloupe), cancelled by pen crosses in manuscript and by entry marking in blue (April 25). Mailed at Military Concession rate with octagonal CORR D'ARMEES/BASSE TERRE alongside in black and deleted "4" decime charge marking reverse with "Correspondence des Armees" in manuscript, countersigned by Commanding Officer. A very rare cover.

Entire letter from MOULE to POINTE A PITRE franked by General Issues 1872-77 Ceres 1c. olive green in a marginal horizontal strip of five and single small figures 15c. bistre all tied by dotted lozenge in black with GUADELOUPE-MOULE cds below. Reverse with Pointe A Pitre cds of receipt (same day). A remarkable and rare entire.

✉ INDOCHINA FRANCESA. 1861 (May 13). FRANCO SPANISH EXPEDITION TO COCHIN CHINA (1858-1862). Entire letter from SAIGON to FRANCE endorsed ´Corps Exped.re de Cochin Chine´ at top and ´Delacour, Sgt. Major de la Cavalerie Tagala´ on reverse (the Tagala Force was made up largely of native Philippinos); struck with circular CORPS EXP. CHINE / BAU A cds in black. Taxed on receipt with manuscript ´6´ decimes due. Saigon was occupied by the Franco Spanish forces since February of 1859. A VERY RARE cover from this Campaign in fresh and fine quality. CAMPAÑA FRANCO-ESPAÑOLA EN CONCHINCHINA 1858-1862. SAIGON a FRANCIA. Carta completa de un soldado francés. Manuscrito "Corps Expedi. de Cochinchine" y al dorso "Delecour, Sargend Major de la Cavalerie Tagala" y firma del Comandante (la Caballería "Tagala" estaba formada por soldados nativos filipinos). Fechador CORPS EXP. CHINE/BAU A. tasada a la llegada con "6" decimas. Saigon fue conquistada por las tropas Franco-Españolas en Febrero de 1859 y sitiada por tropas nativas durante seis meses hasta la llegada de refuerzos franceses. Muy rara carta circulada durante el período anterior a 1862 cuando se firmó el armisticio.

Black PD alongside and framed AFFRANCHISEMENT-INSUFFISANT erased in manuscript with 12 cent charge erased. Unusual 66 handstamp at right and arrival cds on reverse of fine to unusual destination. Depositada al correo en San Sebastián, marca S.S. coronada (nº 2), a la llegada tasada con "8" sous. Excepcional carta transatlántica más antigua conocida con marcas postales españolas. Hasta ahora se creía que la fecha más antigua conocida era la de 1727 en una carta también procedente de St. Pierre de la colección Y. KOURI.

Muy rara combinación de franqueo.

✉ NUEVA CALEDONIA. 1870 (December 16). Small envelope to PARIS with Eagles 5 c. pair (rare used in N. Caledonia) + 20 c. blue + 40 c. orange, all with margins in places, all tied (by indentation or to the cover) by mainly very fine Noumea dotted diamonds with fine matching boxed PD and fair to fine 2 ring NLLE CALEDONIE/*NOUMEA* cds alongside, but also unusually also having a fine handstruck "4" (decimes) arrival charge (for the extra Brindisi route charge) cancelled en route; presumably because the Marseille route had just become available again with the raising of the Siege of Paris? Very few covers have been recorded with the Eagle 5 c. value used in New Caledonia. Cert. I.F. BRUN.

Fine impression of rare octagonal CORR. D'ARMEES-ST.DENIS in black (Nov 20) on obverse with reverse showing REUNION-REVUES Military cachet in blue and arrival cds (Dec18). A splendid and rare cover.

Red PD below and octagonal COL. FR. V SUEZ in red alongside. A rare example of the 12 centimes rate.

Manuscript AFFRANCHISEMENT INSUFFISANT at top (apparently ignored) and fine octagonal LIGNE J-PAQ. FR. No. 2 datestamp in blue (June 23) below. Charge box on reverse with five red wax seals.

'O.H.M.S.' cover from Papeete endorsed 'Consulate of the Society Islands' at lower left, addressed to the Collector of Customs in Sydney, New South Wales with large part 'Melbourne' transit and reverse with 'SHIP LETTER-Crown-SYDNEY' cds on reverse (Nov 12, 1853) in black, charged "4d." due in manuscript for Official rate. A rare cover.

Cover at concessionary Soldier's Rate, endorsed from 'Amanu' (Tuamoto Archipelago) to a sailor on board ship on the Mediterranean Squadron; franked by 1893 overprinted 15c. blue tied by octagonal 'CORR. D'ARMEES-PAPEETE' in black with repeated strike alongside and Naval Detachment cachet in blue. Reverse with Marseille and Ajaccio (Corsica) cds's (May 4). Extremely rare, the only recorded example of a 19th Century usage from Amanu. Certificate SISMONDO. Ceres 24. Scott 22.

Cover with contens, datalined HIKUERU small island (only 5,11 km2) located 700 km. east of Tahiti send with 10 cts. black and blue stamp (defects in origen) to TAIOHAE cancelled on arrival. A very rare cover probably the earliest known sent from this remote location of the French Polinesia.
