✉ COSTA DE ORO. 1872 (Nov 10). Envelope, crested 'Spero' on reverse, addressed from Cape Coast Castle to Edinburgh by D. Patrick Chalmers, with superb "PAID AT CAPE COAST CASTLE" double ring cds in red (Macrae 8). Rated "5" pence in red manuscript due to G.P.O. for ½ ounce rate and "1" penny inland. 'Paid / Liverpool / Br. Packet' cds in red of transit (Dec 2) and reverse with Edinburgh arrival cds. Very scarce: the datestamp was issued to the Colony in October 1871. Biro marks at left, nevertheless rare and attractive cover.

✉ COSTA DE ORO. 1884 (May 10). Cover to London ex the 'Midshipman Long' correspondence at double rate with two strikes of Axim cds of despatch in black; endorsed "Paid" in red and with blue crayon "6" pence credit to G.P.O. and "8" (total including the Gold Coast 2d.). 'Paid / Liverpool / Br. Packet' cds in red (June 12) on front and London arrival on reverse. Listed in Sacher, a scarce usage.

✉ COSTA DE ORO. 1884 (March 8). Registered cover to London at triple rate (1sh. for 1½ ounces + 2d. registration) ex 'Midshipman Long' correspondence with manuscript "Postage Prepaid" and notation of "1/2d." in red crayon, two Axim cds's in black at right. Liverpool and London (April 12) registered arrival datestamps also on obverse of fine and rare cover, only three recorded by Sacher.

✉ COSTA DE ORO. 1885 (Nov 21). Cover with printed reverse 'Basel Mission Factory, Addah' to Beilstein, Germany franked by March 1885 4d. deep mauve tied by heavy strike of "Addah Seal" handstamp in black (ink has left traces of tropicalisation), Addah cds, code C, at left in black and Accra transit Nov 22. "3" (pence to G.P.O.) and "1" accountancy marks in red crayon. Red 'Paid / Liverpool / Br. Packet' cds at left (Dec 15) and arrival on reverse. Late usage of this cancel, the only known on a Crown CA 4d. cover. SG 16.

✉ COSTA DE ORO. 1897 (Dec 6). ASHANTI EXPEDITION 1897-1900 CAMPAIGN. Cover addressed to Captain de Salis at Lagos, franked at Officer's rate by 1884 ½d. dull green (5) all tied by "KUMASI / GOLD COAST" cds's. Reverse with Cape Coast transit Dec 13 cds and 'Lagos / W. Africa' cds (Dec 23). Readdressed to Portsmouth with eventual arrival cds Jan 29, 1898. A fine and scarce cover.

✉ HONG KONG. 1850 (Jan 30). Entire letter from HONG KONG to PARIS via Marseille, reverse with HONG KONG cds in black and obverse with good strike of PAID AT HONG KONG Crown Circle in red. Prepaid 1sh. in manuscript and charged 10 decimes due on receipt (March 21).

✉ HONG KONG. 1863. Cover with manuscript endorsement on front from HONG KONG, struck on reverse with HONG KONG single ring datestamp (July 11) in black. Framed GB/1F 62 4/10 Anglo-French accountancy handstamp in black with Marseille entry mark (Aug 26) in red. Bolsuard arrival cds in red on reverse of a fine cover.

✉ HONG KONG. Ed. . 1891. 20 c. on 30 c. gray green, tied by HONG KONG cds¦s on a registered 1895 cover to MICHIGAN, with three backstamps including the very scarce CUSTOMS KOWLOON postmark. Very fine. SG 45a, Sc. 52.

Small envelope to CHIPPENHAM (UK) franked by 1850 1a. carmine (2, both with four margins) used in combination with 1856 4a. black on white paper tied in black with framed INDIA PAID alongside in red. Reverse with unclear framed despatch, Bombay transit cds in red and Chippenham arrival cds (July 22) in black.

✉ INDIA. 1864. INDIA to PORT LOUIS (Mauritius). Wrapped (without internal flaps) franked with block of eight of 1/2 anna india stamp, charged on arrival with 6 d. A rare franking.

✉ INDIA INGLESA. 1864. ST. CUNDRABAD to ENGLAND. Doble weight cover franked with 8 pies lilac, 2 annas orange and 4 annas black and the same stamps on reverse. Light faults but a rare franking.

✉ INDIA INGLESA. 1867. HYDERABAD. Registered envelope franked with 1 anna brown, 4 anna green and 8 anna red stamps, paper faults.

✉ INDIA INGLESA. (1870 CA.). NANDER to HYDERABAD. Registered envelope franked with 1/2 anna blue (6), 1 anna brown (4). Oustanding franking.

✉ INDIA. 1872. CALCUTTA to BARCELONA (Spain). Market Report sent with 2 annas yellow with black GIBRALTAR on front. Endorsed via Bombay, Brindisi corrected Gibraltar. A VERY RARE destination at this time, very few pre-UPU covers known from India to Spain.

✉ IRAN. 1875. BUSHIRE (Iran) to FRANCE. Letter sheet franked with India 1 anna brown, 4 annas green and 8 annas rose with BUSHIRE duplex cancel sent via Brindisi. Fine and rare franking.

✉ INDIA INGLESA. 1879. Two postal stationary envelopes uprated 4 annas and 1/2+2 annas send registered.

✉ INDIA INGLESA. 1881. SIALKOT to PARIS. 1/2 anna blue and 4 annas grey green, on back local stamp of KASHMIR 1 anna red. Rare combination franking on cover to overseas.

✉ IRLANDA. 1849. DUBLIN to DRAMMEN (Norway). 1sh. green, sent "via London, Ostende, Aachen and Helsingborg". On the front framed AUS ENGLAND/PER AACHEN FRANCO and FRANCO TOUT. Mail to Norway is very rare destination at this date.

✉ LAGOS. 1873 (15-Jan.). Envelope ex the "NUTTALL" correspondence registered to MANCHESTER, showing red crayon "3" over "2/5", superb B/LAGOS cds., straight-line REGISTERED h.s., PAID/LIVERPOOL/SHIP tombstone d.s. (18.12) and two strikes of REGISTERED/LIVERPOOL double-ring d.s., both in red, with arrival d.s. (18.1) on reverse. Most attractive. Ex. H. G. PORTES, W. C. HINDE.

Envelope ex de "BAILEY" correspondence registered to WOLVERHAMPTON, bearing 4 d. carmine and 6 d. blue-green both centrally cancelled by LAGOS/B. cds., showing red crayon "5" over "2/7", PAID/LIVERPOOL/BR. PACKET/5A cds. (8.1), REGISTERED/LIVERPOOL double-ring d.s. and, on reverse, straight-line REGISTERED LETTER h.s., all struck in red; the envelope with central vertical fold and scissor-cut alongside the 6 d. Cover from PENANG to VIENNA bearing Straits 1867-72 4c. bright rose and 30c. claret (each with company control cachets in blue) tied by CIRCULAR DOTTED cancellation in black; red PENANG despatch cds alongside. Red framed P.D. on front and reverse with Brindisi (July 1) and Vienna arrival cds (July 4). A rare and fine cover.

✉ MALTA. 1832. MALTA to GLASGOW. Entire letter with fair MALTA arc and black GIBRALTAR arc strucks, charged "18/6"and "1 1/2 oz" (six rates). Disinfection by immersion in vinegar. RARE marks combination.

✉ MALTA. 1838. Stampless envelope addressed to PARIS written from "La Hauteur de Stromboli" at Malta with manuscript "MALTA" and boxed PAQUEBOTS DE LA MEDITERANEE and charged "20" on arrival in manuscript. Very rare item.

✉ MALTA. Ed. . Sg. 95. 1869 (Feb 8). Entire letter from MALTA bearing Great Britain 4d. vermilion, pl. 10, tied on arrival at the port of Naples by DOTTED NUMERAL obliterator in black. NAPOLI cds alongside and fair two line PIROSCAFI POSTALI / NAZIONALI at left. Naples and Genova arrival cds on reverse of a VERY RARE entire. Signed Raybaudi. Entire letter to GENOA from MALTA franked by GB 4 d. vermilion pl. 10. Tied on arrival in Naples Port by numeral handstamp with cds alongside and fine two line PIROSCAFI POSTALI-NAZIONALI in black. NAPLES & GENOA cds´s on reverse of fine and rare entire. SG 95.

PRINTED COMMERCIAL RAPORT franked with 1848 Post Paid 1 d. red on grey, latest Impression, Pos.3 cancelled with mute oval bars. additionally tied by red French June 1859 with handstamped framed F/39. Accountancy marking (British Colonies/France/Prusse) (Van der Linden 1174) and manuscript "10" backstamped MAURITIUS/G.P.O Marseille, Lyon, París, red AACHEN transits and blue HARBURG arrival datestamp, irrelevant small tear at top of adhesive. Extraordinary cover printed matter rate and believed the unique cover known to Germany in this period. Cert. B.P.A. 2017.

Entire printed Prices Current mailed from PORT LOUIS to COPENHAGEN, franked by 1860 2 d. blue tied by smudged B53 obliterator in black, sent via Marseilles (Aug 10) and struck on reverse with THURN & TAXIS and DANISH PO datestamps (Aug 13) in black and COPENHAGEN arrival cds of the following day. Charged "11 skilling" due in manuscript on front of a fine and appealing entire. Rare printed matter rate and unusal destination.

✉ MAURICIO. 1867 (Sept. 18). Cover and complete contents written from PORT LOUIS, MAURICE, (ANCIENNE FORT DE FRANCE), sent unpaid to FRANCE and struck with fine circular COR. D.ARM / LIG.T.PAQ.FR.No.1 datestamp in black of the same day. Handstruck "30" due marking applied, with Paris (Oct 25) arrival on reverse of a charming and rare entire that displays well.

✉ COLONIAS INGLESAS. 1848 (July 8). BRITISH INDIAN OCEAN TERRITORY. BODDAM (Salomon islands, Chagos Archipelago). Large entire letter (5 pages) writting in french (with interesting historical contents). The letter was addressed to the care Mr. Jean Rabin in Mauritius who then forwarded the letter in another cover from Mauritius. The letter would had been hand carried to Mauritius by schoocer and then posted to Bordeaux in the accompaying lovely cover, with excellent strike of fancy crowned MAURITIUS/4.1849/G.P.O. black handstamp, clear strik of red COLONIES/ART. 13 handstamp, transit of London and BORDEAUX arrival cds. An extraordinary cover, the earliest known letter from B.I.O.T ilustrated in Proud's book and a complete chapter is devote to this fantastic letter.

Envelope from LAGOS to ROME (Italy) registered from "Post Office Lagos", bearing 1882, 1 d. lilac-mauve (4, one marginal) and 2 d. blue each cancelled with oval of bars, showing REGISTERED LETTER h.s. in red at left, LAGOS cds, LIVERPOOL (25.10) and LONDON (25.10). Registered oval d.s., ROME arrival c.d.s. on reverse. Rare and most attractive. (S.G. 17, 18).
