Entire letter from ROSTOV to SYRA via Odessa, franked on despatch with Arms 1865 1k. yellow, 3k. pale green and vertical strip of three 10k. blue & brown tied by circular FRANCO in red. Odessa diamond transit at right and charged 65 lepta on arrival with overlapped 1862/67 5 lepta green, 20 l. blue and 40 lepta rosy mauve all tied by SYRA / 67 datestamps. Creasing typical for this correspondence, despite small imperfections an attractive entire.

Reverse with New York/Paid All cds in red (Oct 21). Transatlantic Mail prior to the UPU is extremely scarce. Scott 19,23.

✉ ESPAÑA. Ed. 98, 99, 100. 1869. BARCELONA a PERNAMBUCO (Brasil). 50 mils. violeta, 100 mils. castaño y 200 mils. verde, circulada vía Lisboa, tránsito al dorso y llegada. Precioso franqueo tricolor. Excepcional destinación. Muy pocas cartas dirigidas a Brasil conocidas antes de la U.P.U.

✉ SIERRA LEONA. 1854 (March 20). CORISCO (River Muni Spanish Guinea) to NEW YORK. Entire letter to the Missionary Society in NEW YORK sent (eventually) via Sierra Leone with SIERRA LEONE double arc cds in black (Aug 31). Reverse with PLYMOUTH / PACKET LETTER datestamp (Oct 5) in black (Robertson P2) and London cds (Oct 6) in red. Thence via Cunard Packet 'Africa' to New York (Oct 20) and charged '45' (cents due in black - 40c GB credit). RARE and most unusual entire, journey time 203 days.

✉ COLONIAS ESPAÑOLAS: FERNANDO POO. 1871. Entire letter with crested 'HMS Seagull' envelope, from the Cuthbert Druitt correspondence to LONDON, written on board the Naval Gunvessel 'HMS Seagull' and letter datelined "Fernando Poo 17/19.12.1871", franked by Great Britain 1867 6d. lilac pl. 9 paying the Officer's rate from West Africa, tied by '466' Liverpool obliterator in black. Circular PAID / LIVERPOOL / BR. PACKET cds (Jan 26, 1872) in red at left. An extraordinarily rare entire with original contents '…not an ounce of coal left. we have been obliged to ask (as a favour) the Spaniards to let us have some of theirs... we left the River Bonny...tomorrow we sail for Cape Coast...for the Mail'. Believed to be the sole example, bearing a British adhesive used from Fernando Poo. Ex Sacher.

✉ COLONIAS ESPAÑOLAS: FERNANDO POO. 1876 (22-Feb.). FERNANDO POO a PARIS. Circulada por buque británico vía Londres y entrada en Francia por Calais. Tarifa manuscrita a lápiz "50" cent. de pta. aplicada por el correo español en Fernando Poo (tarifa U.P.U. para la correspondencia a la Península) y "11" décimas cargadas por el correo francés, según tarifa para cartas de menos de 15 gr que llegaban sin franqueo. Excepcional combinación. Ex colección J. SACHER.

✉ COLONIAS ESPAÑOLAS: FERNANDO POO. (1865-1870). Correo interno. Conjunto formado por cinco sobres enviados por Frank Wilsour (conocido comerciante inglés instalado en Fernando Poo) a la Sra. E.A. Meyer a través de J.W.B. Lynslayer, cuatro de los sobres tienen texto aunque sin mención de la fecha ni del lugar de origen (sólo uno hace mención al British Consulate). También una carta circulada desde Glasgow a Fernando Poo con el sello arrancado y 2 sobres sin texto enviados a Frank Wilson en Fernando Poo y St. Paul de Loanda. Muy interesante y raro conjunto, no conocemos ninguna otra carta circulada en el interior de la Colonia en esta época.

✉ SUECIA. 1872 (May 8). Cover to FRANCE franked by 1858 12 ö blue and 24 ö yellow with two 1863 3 ö bistre brown all tied by GÖTEBORG cds's for 40 öre rate. Blue SUEDE-ERQUELINES entry marking on front and arrival cds (May 13) on reverse. Small faults but a scarce franking. Scott 8, 10, 13.

✉ SUECIA. Mi. 7+21+23. 1872 (Aug. 6). Small envelope to ROME with mixed issue franking of 1858 5ö. green and 1870 12ö. pale blue and 24ö. orange tied by STOCKHOLM cds's. Framed FRANCO in black at top and framed P.D. tying the 5ö. green. Reverse with PKXP No. 2 Railway cds and Rome arrival (Aug 11). A few edge faults but a stunning and scarce cover.

✉ SUIZA. 1872. BOSTON (Usa) a LONDRES. Circulada con sello US. 6 cents. rosa, carta reexpedida a GINEBRA (Suiza) con sello suizo de 10 cents. Magnífico y muy raro franqueo mixto.

✉ SUIZA. 1894. Cover to ARGENTINA, franked with 2c bistre, 3c grey brown, 5c marron and 15c violet Numeral issue (Sc 69,70,71,76), all tied by LOCLE datestamps. Reverse shows blue PARIS/ETRANGER transit and partial BUENOS AIRES arrival datestamps. A very fine cover with scarce four color franking.

✉ TAILANDIA. 1899. Military mail envelope to PARIS endorsed Troupes D'Occupation de Chantboun and cancelled CORPS. EXPED. SAIGON COCHIN. datestamp with military cachet REGIMENT DE TIRAILLEURS ANNAMMITES, 2nd. BON. 7e C.c/LE CAPITAINE COMMANDANT in blue and signed by the Commander. A rare item of military mail, the first recorded example of this cachet on Siam occupation mail.

✉ TAILANDIA. 1903 (Dec 12). 4a. carmine on buff postal stationery card used to TOKYO (Japan) up-rated with 1899-1904 2a. yellow green tied by native BANGKOK cds (and by Tokio arrival). Bangkok cds at left and transit of Victoria-Hong Kong alongside (Dec 28). An unusual and attractive usage. Scott 76.

✉ TAILANDIA. 1904. Siam postal stationary card 4 att red addressed to PARIS cancelled by BATTAMBONG datestamp. A great rarity of Siamese postal stationary used in Cambodia.

✉ TAILANDIA. Ed. . 1905. 1 1/2 a. on 4 a. stationery card used to NORWAY franked additionally with 1899 4 a. dark rose tied by BANGKOK cds with LAURVIG arrival cds also on front. A scarce destination. Sc 80.

Entire letter from BROUSSE to ISTANBUL, bearing on reverse unoverprinted 1868-76 10 pa. dull purple imperf. between horizontal pair, 1 pi. yellow with boxed Brusa (Coles and Walker 142) and 1 pi. yellow with blue Shehir Type III overprint tied by oval BAGHTCHE CAPUSSI datestamp; two adhesives torn through on opening, nevertheless extremely attractive and rare.
