✉ FRANCIA. 1870 (27 Oct.). PARIS to YORK (Great Britain). BALLOON "LE COLONEL CHARRAS". Envelope (without text) franked with 10 cts. and 20 cts. (faults) Star cancel and PARIS/R. ST. DOMINIQUE cds. Arrival (4 Nov.) redirected to a new address and charged 1d. (redirection fee). Contrary to regulations the surcharge for redirection was annulled. First recorded cover known for Balloon Post Mail. Faults but a VERY RARE cover.

Most postal cards from late September 1870 were sent out of Paris on the ballon NON DENOMME No. 1 Scarce example of the 10 centimes card rate for balloon mail.

This cover crossed the Prussian Occupied Zone, where this item was censored receiving the red crayon mark of the examiner.

Sin duda algún capitán de Paquebot conservó el cuño y lo continuó utilizando posteriormente en la correspondencia entregada en mano. ÚNICA CONOCIDA, reseñada en Salles (pag. 228).
