✉ PORTUGAL. 1586 (Dec 13). Entire letter from Lisbon to London, ex Corsini Archive, endorsed (in different hand and translated) at base "Bill of Lading for the Ship Stella and Vidala". The cargo was cloth and brocade sent under a Merchants sign, with the letter mentioning that a journey from London to Lisbon via Plymouth took six weeks + a week's overland journey. A fascinating and early entire.

Sending mail via Lisboa appears not to be a popular route during this period due to the long time (arriving at Madeira Oct. 7 1763) taken compared to private ships and later the West Indies Packet carrying mail direct to Madeira.

Primera vez que vemos una carta dirigida a un miembro del Ejército Portugués que combatió junto a Ingleses y Españoles contra el Ejército de Napoleón en España.
