MARTINICA. 1893. Envelope to France bearing French Type Sage 30 cents brown (perforation cut) (Yvert 80) tied by FORT DE FRANCE double ring with octagonal French paquebot LIGNE D PAQ. FR. Nº1 datestamp in blue and ROUEN arrival on reverse. Very scarce usage of French stamps in the colonies.

A fine cover with full original contents.

Very early entire letter to London from Emeo (Moorea Islands) written by a Missionary, carried outside the Mails until arrival in the UK with oval London time marking in red (June 22) and framed 'T.P.. Lombard Street' and corresponding '2' (pence) rate to pay. An exceptional and extremely early entire that opens well for Exhibit display, journey time 137 days.
