✉ URUGUAY. 1854 (March 31). Outer letter sheet from MONTEVIDEO to BUENOS AIRES, bearing superb strike on the PAID/AT/MONTEVIDEO crowned circle with matching double arc on reverse, 10 centésimos marking indicating payment of the local postage and 1/- confirming payment of the British packet rate, being carried by the RMSP "Severn". The British post office was supplied a "crowned circle" hanstamp in 1851, for use to denote prepayment of mail carried to a non-British destination. About ten examples of this postmark are recorded on cover, this being probably the finest. SG CC1. Ex H. Rocha and Parmigiani.

✉ URUGUAY. Sc. 10. 1858 (27 Julio). MONTEVIDEO a BUENOS AIRES. 120 cts. azul. Mat. ovalado SALA DE COMERCIO / DE / MONTEVIDEO en azul. RARÍSIMA, solo tres cartas conocidas. NOTA: La "Sala de Comercio" de Montevideo ofrecía un servicio postal de "alcance" para las cartas llegadas a última hora cuando la oficina de Correos estaba cerrada. Esta compañía se encargaba de hacer llegar directamente la correspondencia de los comerciantes al buque que ofrecía el Servicio Postal Marítimo entre Montevideo y Buenos Aires, matasellando las cartas con esta especial marca.

✉ URUGUAY. 1861. MONTEVIDEO a GRAN BRETAÑA. Circulado con sellos franceses de 80 cts. carmín (margen inferior ajustado pero completo), mat. ANCLA y fechador octogonal marítimo francés URUGUAY/SAINTONGE (Salles 1031). Magnífico y muy raro en carta franqueada y más destinada a otro país que no sea Francia. F. Roumet.

✉ URUGUAY. 1871. RIO GRANDE DO SUL a GÉNOVA. Encaminada por SIVORI & SCHIAFFINO/MONTEVIDEO (marca al dorso) y depositada al correo. Fechador CORREO/MONTEVIDEO. Carta circulada en el buque "Italo-Platense" de la Compañía del mismo nombre. A la llegada tasada con sello de 1 lira. Rarísima combinación.

✉ VENEZUELA. Ed. . 1871. Entire letter sent stampless to BORDEAUX endorsed per ´RMS´ with fine strike in black of British PO CIUDAD BOLIVAR PAID cds in red. Sent on via LONDON with cds and thence to Bordeaux, (Paris was under seige). A rare and splendid cover.
