Registered cover at extraordinary nine times rate (overpaid 20c.), from Rossinieres, via Basel to Marlborough, UK bearing 1867-78 10c. rose red and rare multiple usage of 1862 1fr. gold (3, one with contemporary fault) all tied by Rossinieres cds's and by framed 'Chargé' handstamp in black. Red oval 'Registered/London' datestamp and arrival cds (April 4th) on reverse of a rare cover. Certificate BPB, Rellstab. SBK 36,38.

Cancelled and tied to the cover by the red circular datestamp ST. LOUIS MO./NOV. 30, with straight-line unframed red PAID and manuscript "10". Probably the earliest date known for this issue. Cert. Mail via England' (carried on the 'Donau') at 12 cents rate franked by single Continental Banknote Co. 1873 12c. deep violet tied by barred Foreign Mail cancellation and by NEW YORK despatch cds in red. Fine large part Wfco. 2 applied at Aachen in transit in red with Cadiz arrival cds (Dec 30) in black. A charming and rare entire.

✉ URUGUAY. 1840-42. Dos cartas DESINFECTADAS con vinagre circuladas de MONTEVIDEO a VILLANUEVA Y LA GELTRU. Circuladas fuera del correo oficial, una de ellas depositada al correo en Tarragona. Manchas características del proceso de desinfección. INTERESANTE CONJUNTO.

Manuscrito "Por la Legación de S.M. Británica". Marca manuscrita en tinta magenta "Paid at la Guayra" y tarifa manuscrita "1/4". Al dorso fechador de tránsito de la B.P.O. ST. THOMAS y en el frente PANAMA. PIEZA EXCEPCIONAL, único caso que conocemos de la indicación manuscrita del pago previo del correo británico en La Guayra.
