Despite imperfections, an attractive cover.

Manuscrito "Ballon Monte" y "Voie Angleise" circulada vía Southampton y St. Thomas, fechador de llegada a St. Pierre. Leves erosiones del papel debidas a la oxidación de la tinta. PIERRE to LONDON via British Packet bearing 15 cts. bister and three 40 cts. orange stamps (short margins) tied by MQE grill and red MARTINIQUE cds, showing red crayon "1/-" demoting the amount due to the G.P.O. Arrival cds on reverse. A very rare combination franking, probably the unique MARTINIQUE/PAID cds known.

✉ NUEVA CALEDONIA. 1870 (December 16). Small envelope to PARIS with Eagles 5 c. pair (rare used in N. Caledonia) + 20 c. blue + 40 c. orange, all with margins in places, all tied (by indentation or to the cover) by mainly very fine Noumea dotted diamonds with fine matching boxed PD and fair to fine 2 ring NLLE CALEDONIE/*NOUMEA* cds alongside, but also unusually also having a fine handstruck "4" (decimes) arrival charge (for the extra Brindisi route charge) cancelled en route; presumably because the Marseille route had just become available again with the raising of the Siege of Paris? Very few covers have been recorded with the Eagle 5 c. value used in New Caledonia. Cert. I.F. BRUN.

Entire letter datelined inside 'Iles Marquises, Taivhai, 9 Août, 1863', written to FRANCE and struck twice in transit with double arc PAPEITI / TAITI in black (Aug 18 on reverse, Aug 22 on obverse). The cover landed at Calais (Dec 16) and charged '9' décimes due on receipt. RARE and extremely unusual entire, very early correspondence from these remote Islands, using the French mail.

Registered cover to NEUFCHÂTEAU, France franked with very fine 1852 1/15th black on blue and three margined 1856 1/10th black on orange network tied by scarce PEINE boxed@dated handstamp in blue. Red RECOMANDIRT and CHARGE markings alongside. Reverse with BERLIN-MINDEN TPO and arrival cds (Nov 19). An attractive and extremely scarce cover. Scott 5,14.

✉ ALEMANIA ANTIGUOS ESTADOS: SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN. 1855 (May 15). Incoming mail from HONDURAS. Entire letter written from SAN JOSE (Honduras) sent unpaid to HOYER in the Duchy of Schleswig, with reverse showing manuscript "Forwarded Belize, Honduras, 16 June 1855 by your obdient servants N. Wesselhoeft" and mailed from there via British Post Office with BELIZE double arc cds in black. LONDON transit cds (July 23) in red and Danish P.O in Hamburg transit (July 27) in black. Plethora of rates in manuscript "10" (pence) in ink (6 d. to GB + 4 d. to Denmark) = 8 1/2 sgr. + German share of 3 1/2 sgr. = 12 sgr. marked in blue ink. Rounded up to 16 shillinge = 52 skilling + 9 skilling Danish share =61 skilling due to pay (red crayon). A marvellous and extremely rare entire. Probably the earliest cover known from Honduras to Schleswig-Holstein.

Germany 10 Pf., "Eickel 6.6.99" on cover addressed to navy ship unit via Berlin court post office (domestic rate) and rerouted to SMS Gefion, transits KOBE, HONG KONG and SINGAPORE JY 3 99, another 10 Pf. added canc. IMP. GERMAN NAVY MAILS Nº 1 1/7 99 and returned. Faults, but rare route.

✉ CAROLINAS. 1912 (Jan 4). Printed cover from Angaur, Palau, Caroline Islands to Korror addressed to Winkler, head of the Palau Station, with PALAU cds in black (Jan 1) of arrival (date had not been altered) and franked by German New Guinea Kaiser Yacht 10pf. carmine tied by manuscript 'Seepost K.D.S. Komet 4 Jan. 1912' . The 'Komet' was the Government Steamer sent from R. Peybach to Winkler, the head of the Palau Station. Signed Grobe. Certificate Steuer.

✉ GRAN BRETAÑA. 1840 (July 8). Entire letter franked with 1 d. black (E/L) tied by red MALSTESSE CROSS. Three large margins and very fair at bottom.

✉ GRAN BRETAÑA. 1854. CRIMEAN WAR. SEVASTOPOL to ENGLAND. Entire letter datalined "Investing Army opposite Sevastopol" franked with three GB 1d. red stamps tied by two strikes of the barred Crown and Stars cancels with P.O. British Army. Endorsed in front "From the British Artillery Balaclava, Crimea". Remarkable contens ref. Cholera, Cossaks atack... Fine and RARE.

✉ GRAN BRETAÑA. 1856. Double weight and fully paid letter from LEIGHT 25/10-1856 to HORTEN via Ostende, Hamburg Stadt Post Amt, The Royal Danish Post Office (K.D.O.P.A) to Christiania with Norwegian steamship, and to Horten with local ship. 2 sh. 8 d. franking with Victoria Embossed pair of 1/ and 6 d. and 2 d., corresponding to 70 Norwegian skillings (35 Lbs), "2" shillings (endorsed in red) British and sea postage to Hamburg. "12" (Lbs.) (endorsed), sum of credit to Germany and Denmark. The special franco marking was used to indicate fully payment for foreign letters when delivered from the Stadt Post Amt to The Royal Danish Post Office. Cert. B.P.A. (2008).

✉ GRAN BRETAÑA. 1874. LIVERPOOL to SWEDEN. Circular folded letter franked with 1 d. GB stamp charged 2 d. and taxed on arrival with 30 ore, 5 ore and 6 ore swedish stamps. Espectacular and rare combination cover. Cert. H. OBERMÜLLER.

✉ GRAN BRETAÑA. 1879. TAUNTON to PISAGUA (Perú). Envelope franked with 1 d. and two 2 1/2 d. rose, taxed on arrival with Peruvian 10 cts. orange stamp. Some age strains but a rare combination franking GB+PERU.

✉ AUSTRALIA. 1853 (Dec.). NEW SOUTH WALES. ORANGE to LONDON. 8 d. dull yellow pair, with mainly good to large margins, scissor-cut between at top and small nick at foot, used with 2d. Prussian blue pair on 1853 (6 Dec.) and readdressed to Devonport, both cancelled by unclear BARRED NUMERAL; upon redirection GB 1841 2d. blue (2, both cut into) applied and cancelled, variously rated and showing, on reverse, Orange, Bathurst (6.12), Sydney (8.12), London (20.3) and arrival (21.3) datestamps; the face panel a little soiled. An extraordinary mixed franking. B.P.A. Certificate (1961).

✉ AUSTRALIA. 1863. BRIGHTON (Tasmania) to SECUNDERABAD (India). Envelope franked with 2 d. slate green and 4 d. pale blue each cancelled numeral "10" transit and arrival on reverse. Stamps with short margins but a very nice presence and very rare destination at this time. Cert. B.P.A.

✉ QUEENSLAND. 1875. Cover from CAMBOYA no 19 to DUBLIN, 9 d. single rate via Brindisi, with 1 d. + 2 d. + 6 d. tied by rayed "120", faint fold at top.

✉ BARBADOS. 1805 (June 4). NAPOLEONIC WARS. BARBADOS to SCOTLAND. Entire letter written on board of "H.M.S. CANOPUS". Interesting contents "On the Ult. the French Fleet quitted Martinica apparently for Trinidad...". With oval SHIP LETTER/PORTSMOUTH mark.

✉ CANADA. 1883. HAMILTON a U.S.A. Envelope franked 3 cts. orange by CORK cancel redirected to London with USA 5 cts. brown stamp and forwarded to NICE (France) (forwarding agent mark on reverse). A RARE COVER.

✉ CANADA. 1894. WINNPEG to AMSTERDAM. 3 cents red Postal Stationery envelope uprated with four 1/2 cent black stamps. Taxed on arrival with Netherlands 5 cts.+ 20 cts. Postage Due Stamps.

✉ CABO DE BUENA ESPERANZA. 1843. PORTLAND KYNSNA to IPSWICH. Entiere letter with POST OFFICE/GEORGE Crown circular handstamp and oval GENERAL POST OFFICE/CAPE OF GOOD HOPE and ms. "Postage Paid at Kynsna" and signature. INDIA LETTER/DEAL entry mark and rated "8". Rare use on overseas mail.

✉ COOK. 1895. RAROTONGA to NEW YORK. Envelope franked with 1 d. blue, 2 1/2 d. rose and 5 d. grey on registered cover, arrival on reverse.

✉ AFRICA ORIENTAL BRITANICA. 1902. NAIROBI to LONDON. 1 anna red and redirected to Egypt with GB 1 1/2 d. Unusual combination franking.

✉ FALKLAND. 1911. FALKLAND to PHILADELPHIA (U.S.A.). 1d. red Postal Stationery envelope uprated with 3sh. green stamp tied by FALKLAND/ISLANDS. The envelope was received in bad order and two stamps of "Officialy Sealed" were added. A VERY RARE franking.

✉ FALKLAND. 1923. DECEPTION ISLAND (South Shetlands) to PORT STANLEY (Falkland Islands). Large O.H.M.S. envelope franked with 1sh. ocre and 3sh. green tied by oval DECEPTION ISLANDS/SOUTH SHETLANDS. Arrival PORT STANLEY/FALKLAND ISLANDS cds. A VERY RARE high franking from the remote island in the Atlantic South.

✉ GAMBIA. 1902. BATHURST to GERMANY. Very nice franking including the rare 4 d., 6 d. and 1 sh. on cover, arrival on reverse. Cert. HOLCOMBE.

✉ GAMBIA. 1909. GAMBIA to GERMANY. 2 sh. blue and purple, registered cover, arrival on reverse.

✉ GIBRALTAR. 1812. PALMA MALLORCA (Balearic Islands) to GUERNESEY. Entire letter forwarded to Gibraltar, manuscript "Forwarding Agent" on reverse. Red arc GIBRALTAR mark. Rare origen and destination.

✉ GIBRALTAR. 1827. CHICLANA (Cádiz, Spain) to MALTA. Entire letter sent via the British Consulate at Cadiz. B.C./CADIZ mark and fine red GIBRALTAR arc. At this time Cadiz was blockaded by French Ships, the British Packets could not call at Cadiz to collect mail. Instead it was courriered to Gibraltar for onward transmission. Charged "6" on arrival. A VERY RARE cover, only two known with both marks.
