Red LONDON transit on front and handstruck 21 (US cents) due marking applied on receipt.

La mayoría de cartas conocidas con éste matasellos en rojo están dirigidas a New York, dirigida a Peru, probablemente está sea la única conocida.

✉ FRANCIA. 1855 (June 9). CRIMEAN WAR. Ladies's embossed envelope with complete original contents sent stampless to France with "Armée D'Orient/Quart. Gal" cds, charged 30 centimes due on receipt (June 20). A scarce and attractive usage, letter with interesting contents regarding 1900 wounded and the Malakof.

Cover to Walthamstow franked by both Great Britain 1856 4d. carmine rose and France 1853 40c. orange, both creased and each tied by 'pointilles' lozenge of small dots on despatch in Paris. Whilst the rate would have been correct, the Postmaster struck the cover with a framed 'Affranchisement-Insuffissant' handstamp and, on arrival, the pre-payment was ignored and cover taxed '8d.' due. for a double letter. Natural file fold through two stamps but delightful and very rare cover.

✉ FRANCIA. 1857. Envuelta sin las solapas laterales y con el texto interior circulada a REIMS y reexpedida a BÉLGICA. Fechador PARIS/FRANCHISES y marca SERVICE DE L'EMPEREUR/MINISTERE D'ETAT/DE LA MAISON DE L'EMPEREUR en azul, tasada a la llegada con"2" décimas para el pago del porte belga.

(Tarifa de 1 de Diciembre 1857) que era de 80 cts. para cualquier puerto al que llegara un barco británico. El uso de ésta vía es rarísimo para cartas dirigidas al Pacífico Sur, no se conocen más de cinco cartas en total y al Perú ésta es probablemente la única conocida.
