Stampless cover to FRANCE with NOUMEA despatch cds in black and large triangular PD-AFFRANCHI-EN NUMEREAUX-FAUTE DE-TIMBRES COLONIAUX cachet in black; red PAQ ANGL-MARSEILLE transit cds, and arrival on reverse dated April 11th at Chelles. Faults but scarce Provisional handstamp.

Cover with mixed issue franking of 10 c. black on lilac (slight fault at top) and Dubois 1881 15 c. blue, tied by Nouméa c.d.s. in black with another, fine strike alongside and red "MODANE A PARIS" c.d.s. (9.11) on front, arrival on reverse. A rare usage. Ceres 40, 51.

Triple-rate cover registered to Pontorson bearing 25 c. black on rose (single and strip three, one stamp with rounded corner) all tied by Nouméa c.d.s. in black, red octagonal "LIGNE T/PAQ.FR.NO 6" on front; carried by paquebot 'Salazie'. A fine cover with full original contents.

FR. Nº3 datestamp with GENEVA arrival on reverse. Very nice franking.

French Paquebot Ligne T / Paq. Fr. No. 3 in black (Dec 22) and, on arrival taxed with Postage Due 5c. pale blue and 15c. black (Jan 31, 1905). Dues off edge of card but attractive and scarce.

Nice combination.

Octagonal LA REUNION A MARSEILLE-LV No.3 Paquebot datestamp on front and reverse with Saigon cds (Dec 31), TOI-QUIN/HAI-PHONG cds (Jan 15, 1893), readdressed back to Paris with arrival (Feb 24). A remarkable and unusual cover.

Manuscript rated "1/4d." to pay including 1d. for local re-addressing. A very fine and extremely early entire, journey time 137 days.

Very early entire letter to London from Emeo (Moorea Islands) written by a Missionary, carried outside the Mails until arrival in the UK with oval London time marking in red (June 22) and framed 'T.P.. Lombard Street' and corresponding '2' (pence) rate to pay. An exceptional and extremely early entire that opens well for Exhibit display, journey time 137 days.

Entire letter from Papeete to Dublin, Ireland endorsed 'Single' (sheet) at upper left; carried privately to New York where struck with oval 'FORWARDED THROUGH GILPIN'S EXCHANGE - AND READING ROOM - FOREIGN LETTER OFFICE - N. YORK' in red and corresponding manuscript 'Rec'd and forw'd by your obdt. servt., New York Feb 3rd 1840'. Reverse with two line 'LIVERPOOL - SHIP LETTER' in black and charged with handstruck '8' in black. An exceptional and early entire with long and most interesting contents.

A very fine and scarce entire, journey time 224 days.

Entire letter from PAPEETE (Tahiti) with some water staining, mailed to FRANCE via Cove (Ireland) where struck with COVE-SHIP LETTER in black and thence to London (Oct. 3) where framed COLONIES-& C. ART.12 in red applied. Reverse with Cove cds and arrival. Despite the staining, a rare routing and a most unusual entire.

✉ TAHITI. 1846 (Jan 28). Entire letter from a sailor on board the 'H. M. S. Grampus' (a 74 gun third-rater) at Tahiti to Oxford, charged 2sh. due on arrival with London red cds (June 10) and Oxford arrival in black of the following day. Much interesting content with writer about to become a Midshipman (however he wishes his father had made him learn Euclid, as this was a possible reason for failure in the exams), receiving supplies from a Chilean Brig from Valparaiso, the death of the pro-French Queen Pomare IV etc. A rare early letter, journey time 164 days.

✉ POLINESIA FRANCESA. 1847 (April 27). Envelope with complete original contents, being a letter from a sailor on board the 'H. M. S. Grampus' (a 74 gun third-rater) at Tahiti to Oxford, charged 2sh. due on arrival with London red cds and Oxford arrival cds (Dec 9) in black. Much interesting content with writer and ship about to return home, the good relations with the French, a visit to Raiatea and Borabora etc. Small imperfections due to 196 day journey but a rare and early letter.
