✉ COSTA DE MARFIL. 1903 (Oct 31). Posts & Telegraphs envelope sent registered to Paris bearing 1892 10c. black on lavender, 20c. red on green and 40c. red on straw all tied by Grand Bassam cds's. Large par strike of Paquebot 'Loango A Bordeaux' in black on front and Paris arrival on reverse. Scott 5,9,13.

✉ LIBANO. Ed. . 1945 (Nov 24). Cover, badly burnt around edges and resealed with French Post & Telegraphs Office tape, two adhesives cancelled BEIRUT DESPATCH cds´s; typed label on front ´ACCIDENT D´AVION en Tripolitaine´ tied by MARSEILLE cds of eleven days later, reverse with Lebanese Charity Tax tied Beirut and manuscript pencil note: Plane fell in Tripolitania and burned. This piece saved. Unusual and rare example of Crash mail.

✉ LEVANTE: CORREO FRANCES. 1812 (Aug 18). Entire letter from THERAPIA (Turkey) to BESANÇON (France); prepaid with framed P.PAYÉ and framed CONSTANTINOPLE handstamp in black of despatch (rare). Disinfected with slits against Cholera, thence with MILAN-LT transit in red, and reverse with DÉB 24-BESANÇON charge applied as the entire was readdressed to Loisey. Aged entire but a great rarity.

✉ LEVANTE: CORREO FRANCES. 1852 (Sept. 17). Entire letter from CONSTANTINOPLE to MARSEILLES struck with oval FORWARDED BY / MESSRS. / S.C. HANSON & Co. by sender in black, with French P.O. Constantinople despatch cds at left, red framed PAQUEBOST / DE LA / MEDITTERANEE and charged '10' decimes due on receipt.

✉ LEVANTE: CORREO FRANCES. 1854. Unpaid letter from SYRIA, showing the rare cursive ALEXANDRETTE origin handstamp, and sent to FRANCE aboard the Ligne du Levant paquebot Caire. Front shows SMYRNE/TURQUIE transit of the French P.O., red framed PAQUEBOTS/DE LA/MEDITERRANEE handstamp, and 20 decimes postage due marking (uprated for a double weight letter). Reverse bears Smyrne and Marseille transits, plus Lyon arrival cds. A fine example of this RARE origin handstamp.

Cover from CONSTANTINOPLE to BARCELONA franked by 1853 10c. bistre brown (2) and 40c. orange (2), touched to large margins, all tied by ANCHOR LOZENGE with superb Paquebot GANGE cds alongside in blue-black. Framed red PAQUEBOTS DE LA MÉDITERRANÉE and charged with "4Rs." in blue on arrival (June 18). A rare cover to a surprisingly unusual destination. Ceres 13,16.

Cover from CAVALLA to MILAN, franked by France 1862 80c. carmine tied by "5095" gros chiffres of Salonica with French P.O. cds at left and three line PIROSCAFO-POSTALI-FRANCESI in red. Reverse with French P.O. Dardanelles cds, Genoa cds and Milan arrival (Feb 18). Scott 28.

✉ LEVANTE: CORREO FRANCES. Ce. 21, 22. 1864 (Sept. 9th). Entire letter from MARSEILLE to ALEXANDRIA franked by 1862 10c. bistre and 20c. blue pair tied by ANCHOR LOZENGE. The letter travelled on the Paquebot "Said" however it is struck with a superb MEINAM cds (Salles 792). Unrecorded by Salles but it is possible that this sailing of the "Said", the first mail for Mauritius and Reunion; also carried the Postal Agent of the "Meinam" on board. Rare and attractive. Ex T.V. Cover, disinfected with slits, used to Genoa with fine franking of 1862-71 2x10c bistre, 20c blue and 40c vermilion all tied by neat ´5095´ gros chiffres with fine SALONIQUE-TURQUIE cds at left. Dardanelli cds on reverse with Naples & Genoa datestamps. A scarce and fine three colour franking. Scott 25-27.

Entire letter from CONSTANTINOPLE to PARIS franked by 1862 40 c. tied by Anchor lozenge, carried by the Euphrate to Marseille with fine strike of octagonal CONSTANTINOPLE / P. FR. U No 4 (Salles 882/4 small "U") alongside. MARSEILLE cds verso (Feb 27). Addressee's name slightly redrawn but and attractive cover.

✉ LEVANTE: CORREO FRANCES. Ed. . 1867 (Apr 22). Cover from ALEPPO to SWITZERLAND franked by France 1862 40 c. vermilion & 80 c. rose tied by 5079 gros chiffres. Black PD alongside and framed AFFRANCHISEMENT-INSUFFISANT erased in manuscript with 12 cent charge erased. Unusual 66 handstamp at right and arrival cds on reverse of fine to unusual destination. Scott 27, 28.

Envelope from CONSTANTINOPLE to NAPLES, bearing 1867 80 c. carmine tied by partial 5083 gros chiffres, underpaid and charged on arrival with Italy 1870 1 lire Postage Due tied by NAPLES cds (19.4), showing framed red AFFRANCHISEMENT/INSUFFISANT in red and, on reverse, MESSINA transits. Small faults but unusual. Ceres 32.

✉ LEVANTE: CORREO FRANCES. 1873. Cover franked with five France 80c. rose Ceres issue (Yv. 57, left stamp damaged prior to application), prepaying five times the single weight letter rate from the FRENCH LEVANT to FRANCE, and all tied by GC 5080 cancels. Front shows ALEXANDRIE/EGYPTE departure datestamp and red framed P.D. handstamp, while reverse bears blue PARIS/ETRANGER arrival. A very fine and scarce cover from this French office.

✉ LEVANTE: CORREO FRANCES. Ce. 57. 1875 (Feb. 20). Cover from BROUSSE to LYON, mailed via Forwarding Agent's with blue circular D. LEVET & FILS VICTOR-CONSTANTINOLE cachet in blue on reverse. Franked in Constantinople with France 1871-75 Ceres 80c. carmine tied by 5083 gros chiffres in black. Lyon arrival (March 6) on reverse of a fine cover.

Stamps canceled on arrival by MARSEILLE cds, and front shows red framed PAQUEBOTS/DE LA/MEDITERRANEE. Reverse bears MARSEILLES transit and LYON arrival. A very fine and unusual cover, as the 20c rate is unrecorded.
