Lot description

FELIPE II. 2 Escudos. (1578-1588). TOLEDO. Anv.: Escudo coronado . EBC-./ Phillip II. Obv.: Crowned shield. Rev.: Enhanced cross within an ornate four-lobed frame. The two dots above the "II" and the partially visible circle with the "M" of the assayer indicate that this coin was minted in Toledo between 1578 and 1588.  Furthermore, the fact that the start of the obverse inscription with the king's name is clearly visible excludes other variants. 6.68 g. AV. Almost Extremely Fine. AC-865.
