✉ CHINA. Sa. 15, 17. 1860 (Nov. 17). Cover from TURIN addressed to a Captain of Artillery "Au Camp de Sin-ko-Lee à l'armée Expéditionnaire de France en Chine" during the period of the Anglo-French Expedition (and officially at War with China in 1860) due to demands for Treaty Ports. The cover franked by 20 c. deep blue and 80 c. yellow tied by TORINO datestamps. Red PD at right and CULOZ transit. An extraordinary destination to a very small and philatelically remote Expeditionary War, where the Allied forces lost 1.200 dead and wounded in two years, the Chinese over 25.000 killed in one battle alone. OUTSTANDING a most interesting cover.
