MEXICO. 1862 (March). FRENCH, BRITISH AND SPANISH MILITARY INTERVENTION. Cover with blue crest on reverse of "H.M.S. PHAETON", at anchor off Veracruz (México) during the early blockade of that Port (lead up to the Maximilian adventure), mailed via Southampton to TURIN and franked by Great Britain 1 d. red (6) all tied by London "33" obliterators. Reverse with LONDON (March 31) transit and TURIN arrival. Rare, only five covers exist from the British Forces in the combined British, French and Spanish blockade and later, landings which arose through Mexican non payment of overseas debts. Cert. G.
