✉ ITALIA. Ce. 13. 1859 (Jan 11). Entire letter written from French soldier in ROME to PARIS with Divisional datestamp at left scored through in ink; with framed TROUVÉ DANS LA BOITE in black on front and franked by 1853 10c. bistre pair tied by dotted "F" lozenge and Paris cds (Jan 17) and readdressed to Carpentras. The adhesives being applied over the "30" tax marking originally charged and paid. An unusual entire.

Illustrated envelope (also printed on reverse with two 'Skull & Crossbons' motif) and complete original content (matching printed notepaper), sent stampless from CREMA with BLACK DESPATCH cds to BERGAMO, charged with "2" handstamp in black. Bergamo arrival cds on reverse of a lovely cover.

✉ ITALIA. 1870 (April 29). Entire letter to Venice franked by 6d. bright mauve, pl. 8 tied by London numeral '98' obliterator. Fully paid for the rate to Florence (May 2) and re-addressed to Venice with 1867 20c. pale blue tied by '12' numeral obliterator (applied over the red British 'PD' marking) with Venice arrival cds (May 5) on reverse. A remarkable and rare entire of great visual appeal. SG 109.

✉ ERITREA. 1889. 10 c. carmine rose, seven examples used on reverse of 1889 double rate registered cover to Rome, all tied by neat strikes of "MASSAUA*(MAR ROSSO)" datestamps (Type III). Obverse with perforated registered label and further strike of Massaua datestamp. Some wear but a very attractive franking.

Rarísima, muy pocas cartas procedentes de este pequeño destacamento italiano en Palestina integrado en el cuerpo de Ejército Británico, falta una pequeña parte de la solapa del dorso.

✉ JAPON. Ed. . 1880. Native ornamented cover bearing Old Koban 1 s. and 4 s. (Sc 58, 68) tied by TOSA-KOCHI MAY 22 cds (nijiumaru type) to SHANGHAI, China. Nagasaki May 31 transit cds and IJPA Shanghai Jun 2 received cds on front. Early use of this native style cover to China is highly unusual, as most were of western style. A very rare cover with clear cancels.

Destination mail envelope to CARACAS (Venezuela) bearing Koban, 5 sen blue (perf. 8 1/2) (SG 115); 5 sen blue (perf. 13) (SG 115) tied by cork cancels with adjacent YOKOHAMA POST thimble cds (pre-paying the U.P.U. rate) routed via San Francisco with transit on reverse. Very rare mixed franking and very rare destination.

No. 3 octagonal paquebot datestamp (22/11) and faint arrival cds adjacent. Vey inusual combination of a Japanese stamp with French maritime cancel. A rare and attractive cover. Scott 62.
