Entire letter written from French soldier in ROME to PARIS with Divisional datestamp at left scored through in ink; with framed TROUVÉ DANS LA BOITE in black on front and franked by 1853 10c. bistre pair tied by dotted "F" lozenge and Paris cds (Jan 17) and readdressed to Carpentras. The adhesives being applied over the "30" tax marking originally charged and paid. An unusual entire.

✉ ITALIA. 1860. ROME to NANCY. Folded letter (one flap missing) franked by imperforate 20 cts. blue French stamp with GRILL cancel and CORPS EXPEDITIONAIRE D'ITALIE/1er DIVISION cds. Very fine.

Illustrated envelope (also printed on reverse with two 'Skull & Crossbons' motif) and complete original content (matching printed notepaper), sent stampless from CREMA with BLACK DESPATCH cds to BERGAMO, charged with "2" handstamp in black. Bergamo arrival cds on reverse of a lovely cover.

✉ ITALIA. 1864 (Aug 2). FRENCH OCCUPATION. Envelope and contents written from CIVITA-VECCHIA to a Major at the Military Hospital in ROME franked by 1862 20 c. blue paying Military Concession rate. BRIGADE FRANCAISE / ITALIE datestamp alongside. Scarce usage. Ceres 22.

✉ ITALIA. 1866. ROME to LYON. Entire letter franked by perforate 20 cts. blue French stamps with GRILL cancel and CORPS EXP. D'ITALIE/2e DIVISION cds. Very fine.

✉ ITALIA. 1870 (April 29). Entire letter to Venice franked by 6d. bright mauve, pl. 8 tied by London numeral '98' obliterator. Fully paid for the rate to Florence (May 2) and re-addressed to Venice with 1867 20c. pale blue tied by '12' numeral obliterator (applied over the red British 'PD' marking) with Venice arrival cds (May 5) on reverse. A remarkable and rare entire of great visual appeal. SG 109.

✉ ITALIA. 1871 (March 11). Cover from Altona to Turin/Italy franked by 1869 1gr. rose and 2gr. ultramarine, readdressed from Turin to Chambéry on arrival with 1863 40c. rose carmine tied by Torino cds (March 14). Age stains but rare franking. Scott 16,17.

✉ ITALIA. Ed. . 1893. Senders half of 7 1/2+7 1/2 c. reply card used to FRANCE and up-rated with diagonally bisected 1891 5 c. green tied by NAPOLI squared circle, for correct rate of 10 c. Unusual and fine example of this temporary usage.

✉ EGIPTO. 1925 (June 15). Cover to Alexandria franked by Italy 'Marca Da Bollo' 1 lire brown, apparently accepted for payment and tied on arrival by 'Paquebot/Alexandrie' cds, with repeated strike of cancel below. Unusual and appealing cover.

✉ ERITREA. 1889. 10 c. carmine rose, seven examples used on reverse of 1889 double rate registered cover to Rome, all tied by neat strikes of "MASSAUA*(MAR ROSSO)" datestamps (Type III). Obverse with perforated registered label and further strike of Massaua datestamp. Some wear but a very attractive franking.

✉ ERITREA. 1900 (Jan 21). Italy 10c. lake postal stationery card used from Massaua to Paris with framed cachet of sender in blue and fine 'INDEPENDENTE PIROSCAFI POSTALI ITALIANO' Italian Steamship cancellation in blue-green. Rare.

Rarísima, muy pocas cartas procedentes de este pequeño destacamento italiano en Palestina integrado en el cuerpo de Ejército Británico, falta una pequeña parte de la solapa del dorso.

✉ TUNEZ. Sc. 7. 1881 (March 9). Cover from SOUSSE to GENOA (Italy) with sender's cachet in blue at lower left, franked by 1878 Estero 20c. orange tied by "235" numeral obliterator with fine TUNISI-POSTE ITALIANE cds alongside. Reverse with Cagliari transit and Genoa arrival (12/8). A scarce cover.

✉ JAPON. Ed. . 1880. Native ornamented cover bearing Old Koban 1 s. and 4 s. (Sc 58, 68) tied by TOSA-KOCHI MAY 22 cds (nijiumaru type) to SHANGHAI, China. Nagasaki May 31 transit cds and IJPA Shanghai Jun 2 received cds on front. Early use of this native style cover to China is highly unusual, as most were of western style. A very rare cover with clear cancels.

✉ JAPON. 1889. Destination mail envelope to CARACAS (Venezuela) bearing Koban, 5 sen blue (perf. 8 1/2) (SG 115); 5 sen blue (perf. 13) (SG 115) tied by cork cancels with adjacent YOKOHAMA POST thimble cds (pre-paying the U.P.U. rate) routed via San Francisco with transit on reverse. Very rare mixed franking and very rare destination.

✉ JAPON. 1884 (Nov. 22). Cover to FRANCE franked by top marginal Koban 1876/77 10 sen blue, cancelled by cork cancel in black with YOKOHAMA cds alongside, reverse with scarce YOKOHAMA / PAQ. FR. S. No. 3 octagonal paquebot datestamp (22/11) and faint arrival cds adjacent. Vey inusual combination of a Japanese stamp with French maritime cancel. A rare and attractive cover. Scott 62.

✉ JAPON. 1896. Postal stationary card 1 sen blue upgraded with Koban 2 sen rose (SG 114) tied by YOKOHAMA datestamp addressed to Algeria North Africa with Marseille transit and PHILIPPEVILLE arrival on reverse. Very fine.

✉ JAPON. 1901 (July 26). UPU 4s. dull violet postal stationery card with "Camp Hill - 100 Steps at Yokohama"  illustration in colour on reverse, used to VENICE from Italian Naval Steamer and cancelled by R. NAVE ELBA datestamp in black.

✉ JAPON. 1910. Telegram envelope to the "Imperial Hotel Tokyo" cancelled by boxed POSTED FROM YOKOHAMA cachet with Imperial Japanese Telegraph label on reverse and Yokohama departure with TOKYO arrival on reverse. Very fine item.
