At that time the Pondichery office had not yet received the cancellations to obliterate the stamps and the French stamps were cancelled on the ship with DOTTED LOZENGE anchor in the center in blue. Circular BUREAU DE PONDICHERY/* despatch in black (May 7). EXTREMELY RARE. Cert. P. SCHELLER. PONDICHERY a BORDEAUX. Franqueada con tres sellos franceses de 40 cts. naranja, pagando la tarifa de doble porte. En ésta época la oficina de Pondichery no había recibido aún los matasellos para obliterar los sellos y los sellos franceses están matasellados en el barco con el mat. ROMBO DE PUNTOS con ancla en el centro en azul, fechador BUREAU DE PONDICHERY/*, fechador de entrada en Francia y llegada. Extraordinariamente raro uso de sellos franceses en la India. Cert. P. ✉ INDOCHINA FRANCESA. 1859 (4 Septiembre). FRENCH-SPANISH MILITARY INTERVENTION IN INDOCHINA 1858-62. Entire letter from France to Commander of the French Warship "Le Laplace". Operations in Indochina, anchored in Hong Kong. Franked with strip of four of french 20 cts. blue and HONG-KONG cds on back. Very rare only three of four covers known of the French forces in that Military Campaign.

Eagle issue 20c. blue and aged 40c. orange, used on rare if faulty 1871 registered cover from SAIGON to PARIS, the adhesives tied by dotted CCH lozenge with fine strike of octagonal CORR. D. ARMEES/SAIGON datestamp in black (Oct. 14). alongside straight line CHARGE handstamp (unique usage) and framed PD. Octagonal COL. F. V. SUEZ PAQ. F./3 MARSEILLE 3 in blue (Nov. 17) and reverse with rate box and seven further datestamps of readdressing and Le Puy eventual arrival cds. Despite faults, a cover of great rarity.

✉ LEVANTE. 1875. ALEPPO (Syria) a GÉNOVA. Circulada con sellos franceses de 5 cts. verde (12). (Dos a caballo entre anverso y reverso, rotos irremediablemente al abrir el sobre). Mat. rombo de puntos "5098" y fechador SMYRNE/TURQUIE y marca B.M. Pliegues horizontales arriba y abajo, pese a los defectos carta de gran presencia y franqueo excepcional y probablemente único conocido en el Levante francés.

Reverse with circular Etablissment Polynesie Francaise / Hopital Militaire de Papeete in black and transits of Paris and Marseille (Nov 2). Faults to adhesives but a remarkable and rare cover.

French transit cds and arrival cds on back. This is the earlist cover known circulated from Spain to Germany, nine years before Postal Agreement with Prussia.
