INDE / PAQ. FR. O No 1 in black (Salles 1962a) carried on Paquebot Meinam to Galle, transferred to Mei-Kong of Ligne N with MARSEILLE entry cds on reverse (Aug 9). Despite imperfections, an attractive cover.

Manuscrito "Ballon Monte" y "Voie Angleise" circulada vía Southampton y St. Thomas, fechador de llegada a St. Pierre. Leves erosiones del papel debidas a la oxidación de la tinta. PIERRE to LONDON via British Packet bearing 15 cts. bister and three 40 cts. orange stamps (short margins) tied by MQE grill and red MARTINIQUE cds, showing red crayon "1/-" demoting the amount due to the G.P.O. Arrival cds on reverse. A very rare combination franking, probably the unique MARTINIQUE/PAID cds known.

✉ NUEVA CALEDONIA. 1870 (December 16). Small envelope to PARIS with Eagles 5 c. pair (rare used in N. Caledonia) + 20 c. blue + 40 c. orange, all with margins in places, all tied (by indentation or to the cover) by mainly very fine Noumea dotted diamonds with fine matching boxed PD and fair to fine 2 ring NLLE CALEDONIE/*NOUMEA* cds alongside, but also unusually also having a fine handstruck "4" (decimes) arrival charge (for the extra Brindisi route charge) cancelled en route; presumably because the Marseille route had just become available again with the raising of the Siege of Paris? Very few covers have been recorded with the Eagle 5 c. value used in New Caledonia. Cert. I.F. BRUN.

✉ POLINESIA FRANCESA. 1863. Entire letter datelined inside 'Iles Marquises, Taivhai, 9 Août, 1863', written to FRANCE and struck twice in transit with double arc PAPEITI / TAITI in black (Aug 18 on reverse, Aug 22 on obverse). The cover landed at Calais (Dec 16) and charged '9' décimes due on receipt. RARE and extremely unusual entire, very early correspondence from these remote Islands, using the French mail.

Entire letter written from SAN JOSE (Honduras) sent unpaid to HOYER in the Duchy of Schleswig, with reverse showing manuscript "Forwarded Belize, Honduras, 16 June 1855 by your obdient servants N. Wesselhoeft" and mailed from there via British Post Office with BELIZE double arc cds in black. LONDON transit cds (July 23) in red and Danish P.O in Hamburg transit (July 27) in black. Plethora of rates in manuscript "10" (pence) in ink (6 d. to GB + 4 d. to Denmark) = 8 1/2 sgr. + German share of 3 1/2 sgr. = 12 sgr. marked in blue ink. Rounded up to 16 shillinge = 52 skilling + 9 skilling Danish share =61 skilling due to pay (red crayon). A marvellous and extremely rare entire. Probably the earliest cover known from Honduras to Schleswig-Holstein.

Printed cover from Angaur, Palau, Caroline Islands to Korror addressed to Winkler, head of the Palau Station, with PALAU cds in black (Jan 1) of arrival (date had not been altered) and franked by German New Guinea Kaiser Yacht 10pf. carmine tied by manuscript 'Seepost K.D.S. Komet 4 Jan. 1912' . The 'Komet' was the Government Steamer sent from R. Peybach to Winkler, the head of the Palau Station. Signed Grobe. Certificate Steuer.

Endorsed in front "From the British Artillery Balaclava, Crimea". Remarkable contens ref. Cholera, Cossaks atack... Fine and RARE.

Double weight and fully paid letter from LEIGHT 25/10-1856 to HORTEN via Ostende, Hamburg Stadt Post Amt, The Royal Danish Post Office (K.D.O.P.A) to Christiania with Norwegian steamship, and to Horten with local ship. 2 sh. 8 d. franking with Victoria Embossed pair of 1/ and 6 d. and 2 d., corresponding to 70 Norwegian skillings (35 Lbs), "2" shillings (endorsed in red) British and sea postage to Hamburg. "12" (Lbs.) (endorsed), sum of credit to Germany and Denmark. The special franco marking was used to indicate fully payment for foreign letters when delivered from the Stadt Post Amt to The Royal Danish Post Office. Cert. B.P.A. (2008).

Prussian blue pair on 1853 (6 Dec.) and readdressed to Devonport, both cancelled by unclear BARRED NUMERAL; upon redirection GB 1841 2d. blue (2, both cut into) applied and cancelled, variously rated and showing, on reverse, Orange, Bathurst (6.12), Sydney (8.12), London (20.3) and arrival (21.3) datestamps; the face panel a little soiled. At this time Cadiz was blockaded by French Ships, the British Packets could not call at Cadiz to collect mail. Instead it was courriered to Gibraltar for onward transmission. Charged "6" on arrival. A VERY RARE cover, only two known with both marks.
