✉ PERU. 1870 (27 Septiembre). PARIS to LIMA (Peru). Flown on the BALLON MONTE "ETATS UNIS" that left on 29/09/1870 at 10:30 hours and arrived on 29/09/1870 at 13:30 hours at Chateau de Maguanville. The cover went on to St. Nazaire (datestamp on back) and despite the written indication "Vapeur de Southampton" circulated on the French Paquebot "Nouvelle Monde" of the Line B to Veracruz following via Panamá and connecting with the Pacific French Paquebots. The cover bears 20 cts. and 80 cts. stamps tied by STAR "4" and PARIS / RUE D'ENCHIEN datestamp. On the back maritime datestamp LIGNE B / PAQ. FR. Nº 4 and arrival to LIMA. Letter with interesting text about the situation in Paris besieged by the Prussians "La Correspondence de Paris pour la province et l'etranger part en Ballons lorsque le vent est favorable...".
