✉ LEVANTE: CORREO FRANCES. Ce. 21, 22. 1864 (Sept. 9th). Entire letter from MARSEILLE to ALEXANDRIA franked by 1862 10c. bistre and 20c. blue pair tied by ANCHOR LOZENGE. The letter travelled on the Paquebot "Said" however it is struck with a superb MEINAM cds (Salles 792). Unrecorded by Salles but it is possible that this sailing of the "Said", the first mail for Mauritius and Reunion; also carried the Postal Agent of the "Meinam" on board. Rare and attractive. Ex T.V.
